The mission of the Social Action Committee of the Yorktown Jewish Center is to assist the needy in Westchester County by easing poverty. 

The mission of the Social Action Committee of the Yorktown Jewish Center is to assist the needy in Westchester County by easing poverty. 
The Committee:

·      provides and serves a monthly dinner for the 25 residents of Jan Peek Homeless Shelter;
·      collects and delivers Thanksgiving baskets for the area’s neediest families;
·      collects holiday gifts in December for needy families (who have been identified by school social workers);
·      collects and supplies take-home bags of Passover food for an annual community seder for people with developmental disabilities;
·      collects food on an ongoing basis for a local pantry, and shop to fill the bins of another local pantry.  

The Committee meets monthly at the YJC on the second Sunday of every month and members not present receive a summary.  Please call the office at 914-245-2324 or e-mail info@yorktownjewishcenter.org if you would like to participate.
